Real Media Artefact - Classic Rock Magazine (2)

This indie/rock/punk magazine is for an audience between the age range of 14 - 24 who are interested in up and coming bands and who also like modern day rock and indie punk bands and want to keep up to date with the new music and tour dates. The title NME sounds like "Enemy" which connotates that the target audience have enemies because they are young and naive. The main image of the indie band 'Yeah Yeah Yeahs' grabs the audience's attention as the woman in the middle is making eye contact with the camera and also has her fist punching towards it. . This automatically gets the audience’s attention as it looks like she is about to hit you. This shows a feisty woman who is not to be messed with. The two male band members behind her also have gained eye contact with the camera which is also showing confidence. The positioning of the band members being the two males and the back and the female in the centre shows that she is the higher status in the band as she is "The Front man" because she i the first band member the audience look at. The two male band members are wearing the colour black however the woman that is central is wearing a multi coloured sequin dress representing all of the colours that the men in the background aren't wearing. The connotations of the lead singer wearing a muliti coloured dress shows that she has more power as she is wearing more fancy clothing than they are. This could be because she is a female and wants to appear feminine. The colour of the font here is bright red which fits into the colour of the name of the magazine this is because the letters "NME" are blood red which has the connotations of blood and violence which is associated with the target audience so they might find the colour appealing. The audience for this magazine are associated with violence so the pose that the lead female singer is in may come across as interesting as males normally are associated with anger and violence.
In the bottom left hand corner there is a smaller square picture which contains the picture of a band member of Fall Out Boy who are also featured in this magazine. The text next to the picture is advertising an interview with the band enticing more people to read the magazine. The font of the text next the the picture is the same as the text with the Yeeah Yeah Yeahs as the font is straight, strong and bold. The bands name "Fall Out Boy" i highlighted with the colour yellow to grab the audiences attention as this tells the reader that there is an article on Fall Out Boy.
