Real Media Artefacts - Contents Page (4)

The first thing that the reader looks at on this content page is the two pictures that are mirrored next to each other in the middle of the page. The reason that the magazine has wanted the readers to look at this first is because this looks like the main article which is featured in the magazine which was most likely advertised on the front of the magazine which is the main reason the consumer bought the magazine.
Down the left hand side of the page there is a long rectangular box containing a "Band Index" this is clearly showing the reader in alphabetical order the names of the bands that are featured in this magazine. The use of having this index feature makes it easier for the reader to navigate around the magazine according to what they are interested in.
On the right hand side of the page you can see that this has b
een separated into 5 sections which all have titles clearly presented as each title is highlighted black with bold capitalised letters so that the audience have a clear idea about what they are looking for and how to find it.
The main colours that are used in this contents page are red, white and black which are the usual colours that are used in the magazine. These colours have been
chosen to represent the magazine as red connotates violence and is appropriate for the audience as violence is associated with the younger generation of today.
The contents page is structures so that the main feature is centred in the page so that the audience can see that the most information is on this band. I have noticed that the title on the contents page, the name of the magazine and the sub headings are all capitalised. The effect of having these all capitalised feels like the words are being shouted at you and not spoken, this fits into the target audience as they are stereotyped at the fact they like playing music loud. Also the effect of having the titles capitalised shows the over excitement that younger people have towards life and music.
The language used in this magazine are used to represent audience here as the use of the word "Kicked off" has been put there to almost show violence as kicking is a violent act so by putting it into a contect in a sentence shows that the magazine has been thinking about the audience as violence appeals to the younger generation.
There is also a little bit of the featured interview with the band Oasis to give the audience an idea of what they should expect in the interview.
