Classic Rock magazine is a British magazine for an audience interested in Rock 'N' Roll culture and music. I think that the audience for this magazine would be between the ages of 20 - 50 who are interested in old school rock. The artist displayed on the front cover of the magazine is the main singer in the band Aerosmith. The singer is posed with his arms spread out open almost like Jesus on the crucifix. This could link to his religious views and could get the reader interested in why the artist is in such an open pose.
The lead singer appears to only be wearing jeans and boots and has refrained from wearing a shirt, not wearing a shirt on the front cover could suggest that he has no fear as he is not afraid to show off his body and that he is free. Showing off his chest could also mean that he is a confident guy as he is the lead singer of a Rock band so this means that he would be performing in front of a large variety of audiences all over the world. The white space between the band member of Aerosmith and the text around the edges provide a frame around the lead singer Steven Tyler which suggests that this picture is there to
The title "Classic Rock" is in a laid back bold font which could be suitable for men and women readers as it is not too curvy yet not all of the edges are sharp and straight. The word "Rock" stands out most as this is what I first noticed when i looked at this for the first time, the reason for this is that to have the font bigger it establishes to people that the magazine is about Rock music which is well known with the elder generations. The cover band Aerosmith have the name of the band positioned in the middle of the front cover as having the title central to the cover means that this is what the audience looks at first. The colour of title 'Aerosmith' is in a light gold, the colour gold has the connotations of royalty so having the band’s name in gold could suggest that the band are rock royalty as they have been making music for so long and are widely popular with all ages.
The luminous circular yellow pug in the right hand corner of the magazine is advertising a "FREE CD". This pug gets the audience's attention as it has the word 'free' in it and because of the bright yellow. The rest of the magazine has very simple colours like white, black and red, so by making this pug bright yellow will get the audience’s attention as it stands out like a sore thumb. The use of the exclamation mark after "FREE CD" shows the excitement in the fact that there is something free with the magazine, the exclamation mark makes the magazine cover look excitable and will get the audience’s attention.
