Real media Artefact - Contents Page (1)

In the top left hand corner there is a letter from the editor of the magazine simply explaining what is in this weeks magazine and how much effort has gone into making this weeks issue. Also there is a thumbnail of the magazine cover which this is the contents page for reminding the audience what is on the front of the magazine. The colour scheme on this page is black, yellow and white. The yellow and black contrast quite well on the heading which says "Contents" as this ultimately grabs the readers attention and allows them to distinguish what they are looking at.
On the right hand side there is a long column which has all of the information about where you can find which article. The pictures that are spread across three quarters of the page have been coded with numbers as to which page the reader can read more about the picture and the artist.
This is a really good technique as it shows the reader a little bit of what's in the magazine all on one page. Below each picture also there is a little sub caption which explains a little about who is in the picture and what is going on, this gives the reader a taster of what is in the magazine without having to read on just yet.
At the top of the page on the right hand side below the main heading there is a quote from a singer, the font is in black and has quotation marks to show that it is quote. There is also a little description as to who has said the quote and a page number for the reader to follow up for the rest of the story.
There are a lot of images on the first page, this is good as this is a lot for the reader to take in and can also make the reader look forward to reading everything that is in the magazine as visually the pictures are enticing and lead you to wanting to know the story behind what is going on.
In the pictures you can see the singers are hardcore rockers, this is because the artists have tattoo's, this has connotations that they have connections to violence and anger. There is only a small amount of text below the pictures however in each sub heading the font is in bold black suggesting excitement and violence as the font is also capitalised.
